Gratitude as a healing practice

How are you feeling
Gratitude shouldn’t be forced through words or overthought, but felt throughout the body.
It’s a somatic experience of feeling safe, present, seen. A relaxation of the nervous system.
It can be as simple as a warm mug that feels like a hug to your nervous system.
Noticing the way the light hits bringing a sense of awe.
Something someone said or did for you that gave you the felt sense of security. Such as being understood or feeling seen.
Genuine appreciation is feeling that there is enough. You are enough. No lacking. No expecting.
—- try this, place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly and feel into your breath and heartbeat. And recall one simple thing that has felt supportive for you. One small thing that has brought you to a sense of peace. Feel into that.
Notice when the body softens, the breath comes at ease, you feel connected and calm.
Each time you do this you send a single to your brain in bite sized pieces that you’re safe. You are not numbing out the world or lying to yourself that you’re “doing fine” you are actually reprogramming your nervous system in a more manageable and effective manner. And be honest with yourself, if perhaps the most grateful thing is that the holiday is almost over, honor that relief. There is power in your own vulnerability. Overtime the nervous system will be less likely to be so reactive and instead more responsive to connection.
Use this practice as a way of coming back home to yourself, for when we are more grateful we are open to more abundance.

Here are events happening in December.
Yin & Pin
Friday December 12 held at Thrive Integrative Medicine.
Sensual Somatic Series
4 week series held in the month of December over at Gather on Tuesday evenings where we move with the elements and energy of the moon, feeling into our emotional body. It’s a slow, grounded, sensual practice. Alchemizing pain into pleasure, moving through numbness and stickiness in the body. More information in a separate email coming soon.
We will be discontinuing classes on Tuesdays after the end of the year at Gather. So if you’d like to experience any meditation/breath work class or sensual somatic class, now is your time. Will have more pop-ups and workshops held there, but unfortunately we are unable to continue to pay rent at another location at this time. We gave it a good go team!
Classes will still be held at Thrive Sundays and Thursdays until summer when we will switch things up again. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
There will be NO classes on Christmas Day, Thursday December 25, nor New Year’s Day Thursdays Jan 1st at Thrive.
We are grateful for each of you that have stepped through our doors and practiced on the mat with us. Thanks for bringing friends and family and helping our community grow. It means a lot to us. It keeps us going.
It’s the season of rest, don’t forget that when you start to feel overwhelmed.
